Long Exposure Elective
Programmed Generative Drawing
Completed: 2023
Software Used: P5.js (OpenProcessing)
Role: Designer
Generative Dreaming is a series of artworks that were programmed to generatively change and complete itself over time. Embracing code as a creative medium, I used P5.js to program these works. Every time the code is run, the resultant drawing develops into something familiar but never quite identical, allowing for an infinite number of variations on the same artistic vision.
Nakagin Dreams
This work celebrates the Nakagin Capsule Tower by imposing rectangles and circles of different opacities onto a Cartesian grid rotated 90 degrees.
Randomized Zone (after Philip Guston)
This work derives its logic from the logic of artist Philip Guston’s Zone (1953-1954).
Pendulum
This work layers the movements of a pendulum swinging onto each other as though it were in a long-exposure camera shot.
